Service Description:
|
Community legal clinic, provides legal advice and representation in following areas of law:- housing law - eviction prevention, illegal lockout, tenants right and responsibilities; does not assist with tenant and housing application or represent on Above Guideline Increases (AGIs)
- employment law - employment standards, human rights in workplace, wrongful dismissal, employment contracts, Employment Insurance, severance package reviews
- immigration law - permanent resident (PR) applications, work permits, temporary resident permits, PR card and citizenship applications
- income supports - Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Ontario Works (OW), Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS), Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), Canada Disability Benefit (CDP); does not help with filling out applications
Whether or not legal advice or representation is offered depends on factors such as required expertise for legal issue, merits of the case and available resources Offers limited Document Services for affidavits and notarial true copies Does not help with but provides referrals related to following areas of law:- abuse and family violence
- criminal law
- debt and consumer rights
- family law
- French language rights
- health and disability
- help from other lawyers and paralegals
- refugee law
- services for victims of crime
- tribunals and courts (in areas of law that clinic does not handle)
- wills and powers of attorney
