Service Description:
|
A non-profit, children's mental health centre providing a full range of free and confidential services as well as support to their families and caregivers. Services and programs include:
FAMILY INTERVENTION SERVICES - These services include individual, family or group counselling provided primarily in an office-based service model, but with the flexibility for community outreach. Determined by the child’s/youth’s needs, services may include brief interventions or longer term treatment. Other site located in Campbellford provides services closer to home.
YOUTH CRISIS RESPONSE LINE - Provides rapid response for children and youth up to the age of 18 exhibiting suicidal, homicidal, or violent/destructive behaviour, in addition to general mental health concerns. This service is delivered by an on-call roster of trained professional staff from Kinark's Family Interventions and Intensive Services teams. The YCR worker is also available to respond to walk-in clients who may present in crisis at the Kinark program office. The program receives new referrals from 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri.
PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAMS - Offers the evidenced based Triple P Parenting program with two separate groups; one for parents of 6 years to 12 year old children, and one for parents with children over 12 years of age. These Triple P programs are offered throughout the year based on need. Kinark also offers child/parent group programs for children experiencing anxiety as well as social skills based groups through the ABA Program.
AUTISM SERVICES - all children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by a qualified professional are eligible to receive flexible and individualized services based on their personal needs, strengths and goals until the age of 18. The goal of the new OAP is to provide families with services that are well coordinated, family-centred and responsive to the unique needs and potential of each individual child and/or youth.
