Service Description: Assistance to those who live and work in Durham Region and are experiencing mental health and other issues by providing counselling, psychotherapy, education and other support services:

COUNSELLING SERVICE: Family Services provides  accessible and confidential professional counselling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples and families. Short-term counselling and psychotherapy are available for a broad range of concerns such as: grief and loss, anger management, depression, anxiety, separation or divorce, parenting, addictions, relationship issues and job stress.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Family Services provides access to professional and confidential counselling, psychotherapy, coaching and consulting services. These services help individuals manage personal, family, or work-related concerns.

ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES: Family Services provides care management and service coordination to help adults 18 years and older with developmental disabilities reach their full potential and live their lives as independently as possible in the community.

PARTNER ASSAULT RESPONSE PROGRAM: A specialized, community-based group education and counselling program for men and women mandated by the court to participate in response to a criminal charge involving domestic violence against a current or former partner. The PAR Program offers 12-session groups that provide individuals with the opportunity to examine their beliefs and attitudes towards domestic abuse, and to learn non-abusive ways of resolving conflict.

PRIMARY CARE OUTREACH PROGRAM: The PCOP team, an Advanced Care Paramedic and a Family Services Durham Social Worker, provide outreach services and service navigation to at-risk populations in Durham Region, including those who are homeless/underhoused and often struggle with mental health and addictions challenges. This mobile crisis unit can be reached at 289-979-9428 and is available daily from 8am-6pm.

MENTAL HEALTH OUTREACH PROGRAM (MHOP)

Fees: Counselling services have a sliding scale.
