Service Description: In partnership with Resources for Exceptional Children and Youth (RECY), the Urgent Response Service provides time-limited services and supports to respond rapidly to high-risk behaviours to prevent further escalation or risk to a child/youth, others or property. High-risk behaviours include:
  • suicidal ideation or behaviour
  • violent thinking
  • fire starting
  • harm to animals
  • risk of exploitation
  • self-injurious behaviour
  • aggression
  • inappropriate sexual behaviour
  • flight risk
  • property destruction

URS provides services and support for up to 12 weeks. It is not a 24/7service and it is not intended to replace existing emergency or crisis supports.

Eligibility / Target Population: Children and youth 0-17 years of age. Children must reside in the Central East region. Must have a confirmed diagnosis of ASD and be currently registered in the Ontario Autism Program, and be exhibiting a high-risk behaviour
