Service Description: Assists registered members of the community to access post-secondary education and to obtain the qualifications and skills needed to pursue individual careers and to contribute to the achievement of economic self-sufficiency and self-government of the First Nation. 

Role of the Education Advisor:

  • To encourage and to ensure that members/community members have access to all levels of education, including employment and training
  • To provide support services to members of the community and to assist parents engage with school administrations
  • Represent the First Nation on the Native Advisory Committee of the Durham District School Board, the Ogemawahj Tribal Council and Native Education Committees at local Colleges and Universities
  • Ensure that the local school board is delivering education services as contracted
  • To provide assistance and support to Chief and Council and other staff
