Service Description:

    Participates in LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) in English, upon assessment by YMCA of Greater Toronto -- (see separate entry), transportation assistance and childminding available
    Family Literacy Program
    • language and age-appropriate family reading and listening resources through a lending library
    • activities to encourage and reinforce family language learning with a certified Family Literacy Worker
    Language Training for Childminding and Food Handling
    • supports newcomer participants with language instruction, skills development and work experience placements to become job-ready in the Food Handling or Childminding Sectors
    • access to digital literacy support to build on technical skills
    • device lending program for clients who qualify for the program

    Eligibility / Target Population: LINC -- permanent residents, Convention refugees and live-in caregivers; Language Training for Childminding and Food Handling: permanent residents, Convention Refugees, Live-In Caregivers, and temporary resident pathway for extended family members in Gaza of Canadian citizens and permanent residents; applicants must also have a level of English of CLB Level 4.
